Celebrations are in order as Zero Degrees West makes its UK Social Media Communications Awards shortlist debut.

For nine years, the UK Social Media Communications Awards have been recognising the very best in fresh and innovative creative for online platforms – and this year, it’s an honour to announce that Zero Degrees West has been multi-shortlisted for our Blade Runner 2049 and Baby Driver campaigns.

Blade Runner 2049

Dennis Villenueve’s Blade Runner 2049 was hailed as a cinematic masterpiece by critics, and already had a cult following as the sequel of Ridley Scott’s fantasy-noir classic. Our aim was to re-engage die-hard fans, and introduce the world of Blade Runner to new audiences, whilst showcasing the film’s stunning cinematography and enviable talent.

Across our campaign, we paid homage to the title’s gritty neon visual identity to capture both of our target demographics. Our runaway success asset was our beaming breakout video, which amassed 654,794 engagements alone – including fan comments such as, “Wow, that editing though. Now that’s how you advertise something!”

Baby Driver

Our aim was to turbo boost Baby Driver’s box office success into a home ent. win by channelling the film’s ultra slick style and infectious soundtrack, hooking our young adult audience.

While our campaign spanned Digital, Social, Radio, VOD and OOH, it was our disruptive breakout videos – 32,186 total engagements – and hyper-targeted Spotify ad – 175,547 impressions – which put Baby Driver into fifth gear, before parking up on the Best Use of Social Media: Entertainment shortlist.
